The President of the Swiss Confederation H.E. Ms. Doris Leuthard invited on an official visit the Albanian PM H.E. Mr. Edi Rama on March 31, 2017. The delegation accompanying the Albanian Prime Minister was composed ofthe Minister for Urban Development Ms. Eglantina Gjermeni, the Minister of Social Welfare and Youth Ms. Olta Xhaçka as well as the Minister of Eductaion Ms. Lindita Nikolla. The Mayors of Durres city and Malesia e Madhe were also part of the delegation.
The visit of Prime Minister Rama was the first official visit of an Albanian Prime Minister since the establishment of bilateral relations among two countries in 1970.
The Albanian delegation held official talks with the Swiss counterpart headed by madam Leuthard, President of the Swiss Confederation. Both parties discussed on the intensification of bilateral relations, the swiss development aid, the role and contribution of Switzerland in the democratic developments in Albania and in the region as well as the political developments in the Western Balkans region and the international scene. The bilateral negotiations were followed by the signiture of two agrrements,respectively the Agreement on the Regional Deveoplment Program in Albania and the Agreement on the Promotion of Employment Projects. Ms. Leuthard hosted an official lunch in honor of the Albanian delegation.
Prime MInister Rama also had official talks with the Speaker of the Swiss Parliament Mr. Jürg Stahl.
