1. Travel Document (Emergency Travel Permit)
As of 15 December 2025, the Travel Document issued in cases where a citizen’s passport has been lost or has expired will no longer be issued on the same day. This is because applications will require additional review by the competent authorities prior to issuance.
Applicants are strongly advised to apply online in advance, before coming to the Consulate, and to upload their photograph in accordance with the stated requirements.
Exceptions will be made only in verified medical emergency cases, upon presentation of supporting evidence (e.g. documentation from a hospital or doctor in Albania). Even in such cases, several hours of processing time will still be required.

2. Changes to the Postal Delivery Service
With regard to the postal delivery service introduced last year to assist citizens living at a distance from the Consulate, and due to the high number of address errors and misunderstandings, we will only accept postal delivery requests from applicants who fully meet the requirements set out in section 5.5 (including proof of address and proof of payment), via this web-page CLICK HERE
