The Republic of Albania and Romania celebrate today the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Understanding, Cooperation and Good Neighbourhood. (11 May 1994, Bucharest).
The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, HE Mr. Igli Hasani and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, HE Mrs. Luminița Odobescu, exchanged congratulatory messages on this occasion, underlining the solid partnership between the two countries, based on mutual respect and understanding, further enriching historical friendship.
During these 30 years, the ties between the two states are based on a strong tradition where history intertwines with a common cultural heritage and close ties between people, including minorities, which strongly bind the two states beyond geography.
Romania is and will remain a firm supporter of the European path of the Republic of Albania.
Albania and Romania, as NATO allies and European partners, are constantly committed to contributing together to a strong, prosperous and secure Europe.
The two countries established their diplomatic relations 111 years ago (1913).
