Biography
Mr. Ferit Hoxha joined the Albanian Foreign Service in 1991 and has been active in Foreign Affairs and International Relations since.
Between 1991 and 1995 he worked as desk officer for the relations of Albania with the European Union, at the Albanian MFA. In 1995, he was counsellor at the Mission of Albania to the United Nations, in New York.
From 1996 to 1998 he was the Director for Multilateral Relations at the Albanian MFA. From 1998 and 2001 he was Ambassador to the European Union, including to Belgium and non-resident to Luxemburg. From 2001 to 2006 he was Ambassador to France, including non-resident to Portugal, Algeria and Monaco.
Between 2006 and 2009 he served as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the highest civil service position at the headquarters. During this time, he also served as National Coordinator for the Alliance of Civilizations and was Albania’s Governor to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors (2007 – 2008).
From 2009 to 2015 he was the Albanian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York and Albania’s non-resident Ambassador to Cuba. From November 2015 to March 2018 he was the Director General for Political and Strategic Issues at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania. Between March 2018 and October 2021 he served as the Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Albania to UNESCO, in Paris. On 30 September 2021 he was appointed as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Albania to the United Nations in New York as well as Albania’s non-resident Ambassador to Cuba.
Education
Mr. Hoxha is a graduate of University of Tirana, (Albania) in French language and civilization. He has attended the Netherlands Institute of International Relations at The Hague; the Center of International and Security Studies in Maryland (US), has studied High-Level management with Georgetown University and the Art of Negotiations with the University of California. In 2017, he attended the 11th Session of the Mediterranean Studies of the IHEDN, Paris, France.
Titles
Mr. Hoxha has been bestowed the “Dignité de Grand Officer” of the French National Order of Merit; the title “Ufficiale del Ordine della Stella of the Italian Republic” and the title “Personnalité francophone de l’Albanie pour l’année 2007” by the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Besides his mother language, Mr. Hoxha is fluent in English, French and Italian and has a good command of Spanish.
