On 25 March 2026, Ambassador Albana Dautllari attended a conference held at the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region, dedicated to the history and contribution of the Albanian community in Belgium. The event was organized at the invitation of Member of Parliament Kristela Bytyçi and marked the 70th anniversary of the first wave of Albanian migration to Belgium.
The conference brought together high-level representatives of Belgian institutions, including Bernard Quintin, President of the Brussels Parliament Bertin Mampaka, and President of the CPAS-OCMW, David Weytsman, alongside members of the Albanian community. Belgian representatives highlighted the important role and contribution of the Albanian community in Belgian society, praising its high level of integration and civic engagement.
In her remarks, Ambassador Dautllari emphasized the significant and sustained contribution of the Albanian community to Belgium’s economic, social, and cultural life, underlining its role as a bridge in strengthening relations between Albania and Belgium. She also noted that Ms. Bytyçi represents a meaningful example of successful integration within Belgian political and institutional life, as well as an active advocate for the community’s values and contribution.
The conference provided a comprehensive overview of the history of Albanian migration to Belgium, highlighting key developments and achievements over the decades, as well as the community’s contribution to Belgian institutions and society.
