On the two-year anniversary of the start of the Russian aggression in Ukraine, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, once again emphasized the full support of the Albanian government and the Albanian people for Ukraine and its people.
The Albanian chief diplomat underlined that Albania has played an important role in the UN Security Council to build diplomatic support for Ukraine and to isolate and condemn Russia for its illegal war of aggression.
“I am proud of the role Albania has played in support of Ukraine, alongside our allies and partners. We have done our outmost to support Ukraine and its people, also because we understand that their fight is a fight for the security of Europe and the rules based international system. Anything else would encourage every dictator and rogue nation in the world to follow Vladimir Putin’s path, thus reducing international law to the law of the jungle,” he stated.
According to him, the war in Ukraine has seriously affected the security and stability of our region.
“That is why on 28 of February, in Tirana, we are organizing the Ukraine – Western Balkans Summit. The Summit will provide an opportunity for leaders from the Western Balkans and Southeast Europe to discuss how we can work together and how we can extend all the support we can to Ukraine, conscious that by helping Ukraine we are also contributing to the security and stability of our region and Europe,” he stated.
