Albania welcomes the agreement reached in Paris at the end of COP21 on the implementation of the Framework Convention on Climate Change

The Paris Agreement establishes a long-term and sustainable global framework to reduce global emissions of greenhouse gas, where all countries, without exception, engage in a serious and ambitious attempt to implement clear, consecutive objectives and report on the progress of their implementation through a rigorous and standardized review process, which would significantly reduce the risks and impacts of climate change.

The countries’ agreement to meet every 5 years for a joint action is an expression of the urgency and need for commitment towards the danger posed by global warming, to be collectively engaged on the side of science.

Albania, as a partner that provides concrete contribution to the joint efforts, presented its national objectives since October 2015 and is fully committed to rigorously implement the commitments to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) by 11.5%, by the year 2030.

We are convinced that the Paris Agreement will serve to address other major issues such as food safety, public health, fight against poverty as well as fundamental rights, thus providing direct contribution to peace and security in the world.
