Message of Prime Minister Edi Rama, regarding the decision of the Albanian government, as a response to the cyber attack against the digital infrastructure of the Government of the Republic of Albania

Fellow citizens,
On July 15, our country became the target of a heavy cyberattack on the digital infrastructure of the Government of the Republic of Albania in a bid to destroy it, paralyse public services and hack data and electronic communications from the government systems. The said attack failed its purpose. Damages may be considered minimal compared to the goals of the aggressor. All systems came back fully operational and there was no irreversible wiping of data.

The agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, Minister Xhaçka: Great news for the region, dialogue is the right way

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, welcomed the agreement reached between Kosovo and Serbia on free movement at the border crossing points between the two countries.
“A very good news for the region. Kosovo and Serbia now have an agreement that benefits both Albanians and Serbs. Dialogue is always the way.  Congatulation to the two leaders and gratitude to the EU for facilitating the dialogue”, said the Albanian chief diplomat.
Now the citizens of the two countries will be able to travel freely between Kosovo and Serbia using their identity cards.

Ukraine Independence Day, Minister Xhaçka: Proud of everything Albania has done for Ukraine and its people

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, at the invitation of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Albania, Volodymyr Shkurov, visited the exhibition “Chronicles of the Russian occupation of Ukraine – the beginnings”, which was held on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of independence of Ukraine.
In her remarks, Minister Xhaçka emphasized that Albania will continue to give its contribution in support of Ukraine.

Minister Xhaçka meets Christiane Hohmann: We welcome cooperation to advance the negotiation process with the EU

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, had a meeting with the new Ambassador of the European Union to Albania, Christiane Hohmann.
Minister Xhaçka and Ambassador Hohmann discussed the path forward awaiting Albania after the formal opening of negotiations with the European Union.
She emphasized that she welcomes the cooperation with Ambassador Hohmann to advance Albania`s negotiation process.
Christiane Hohmann was appointed Ambassador of the European Union to Albania in June, shortly after the end of the mandate of Luigi Soreca.

Minister Xhaçka at the “Crimea Platform” summit: We should support Ukraine so that such illegal aggressions do not happen again

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, participated in the virtual Crimea Platform summit chaired by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Minister Xhaçka emphasized that the current war in Ukraine has its roots in the illegal occupation of Crimea in 2014, and according to her the world did not react as it should at that time.

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, welcomed the decision of the Kosovo Government to suspend temporarily the implementation of reciprocity regarding the Kosovo-Serbia border crossing.
Minister Xhaçka emphasized that Kosovo has every right to exercise its sovereignty over every square centimeter of its territory.

The first Albania-EU Intergovernmental Conference was held today in Brussels, which paves the way for our country to join the European Union.
Addressing the meeting on the analytical review of the legislation for Albania, North Macedonia, and the EU, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, stated that EU membership is one of the strategic objectives for which Albania has worked hard among the years.

Genocide in Srebrenica, Minister Xhaçka supports the initiative to declare July 11 the Remembrance Day

The initiative to declare July 11 the Remembrance Day of the Genocide in Srebrenica was discussed today in the Albanian Parliament.
Minister Xhaçka congratulated the members of parliament for the initiative, as she called on everyone to approve it without hesitation in respect for the victims.
