Security Council Meeting on Ukraine, Xhaçka: Holding Russia Accountable is Vital for Preventing Future Atrocities

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, participated in the United Nations Security Council briefing on Maintenance of Peace and Security of Ukraine
Minister Xhaçka said that the fact-finding missions show terrible criminal brutality against the Ukrainian civilian population, while she emphasized that the International Community must hold Russia responsible for these acts.
“Innocent men, women and children in Ukraine, as well as tens of thousands of Russian soldiers, have paid with their lives for Vladimir Putin’s chosen war. Millions around the world are starving because of Vladimir Putin’s chosen war. That is why we must join forces as an international community and continue to help Ukraine defend itself. We must work to ensure accountability for what Russia is doing in Ukraine. This is to ensure justice, but also to prevent future atrocities,” she said.
Present at this meeting were: Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres; Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan; American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken and Foreign Ministers from member countries of the Security Council.
