Bilateral Relations

The bilateral relations between Albania and Hungary
 The diplomatic relations with Hungary are established on Mars 1922 (charge on duty), meanwhile, on 31 May 1992, the first credentials were presented. The political relation between Albania and Hungary are well established and stable. The both nations have shown high will in order to intensify further their political dialog through several visits in all levels- high level visits as a relevant contribution for strengthening the relations between the two nations and further intensification of the relations in the areas of mutual interest. Hungary is one of the first European Union member states that ratified MSA (Stabilization Association Agreement) between EU and Albania. Hungarian Parliament ratified unanimously the agreement on 23 April 2007; and on 31 May 2007 it delivered the ratification instruments in Brussels. Hungary supports the accession of Albania in EU. The long and good friendship tradition and also the cooperation between our two nations are very appreciated.

Bilateral Visits
 1999
- The Hungarian Foreign Minister, Janosh Martonji visited our country (specifically, on 16-17 June 1999). During the visit it was signed the Cooperation Protocol between both Foreign Ministries.
-The Hungarian Prime minister, Viktor Orban, visited Albania (30 August 1999). Both Prime ministers of both countries were agreed on close cooperation and support on Balkan issues (Kosovo and Vojvodina). 
-The Secretary of State for Defense of Hungary, Janos Homoki came for a visit to our country (9 December 1999). He brought several reliefs to the Albanian army. 
-The visit of the State Secretary for Euro-Atlantic Integration, Maqo Lakrori (19 to 21 January 1999). The visit was organized in the framework of the Euro-Atlantic integration experiences. 
-The visit of Albanian minister of Internal Affairs, Petro Koçi in Budapest (February 1999). An agreement for the fight against terrorism and organized crime was signed.
-The foreign Minister, Paskal Milo visited Budapest in the framework of a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Council of Europe (May 1999) 
The Prime minister, Pandeli Majko established a dialogue with the Hungarian Prime minister, Viktor Orban on behalf of a NATO meeting.
2000
- The President of Albanian Republic, Rexhep Mejdani, held a visit in Hungary (14-16 February 2000).
-The Prime Minister Ilir Meta  held a meeting with the Hungarian Prime minister Viktor Orban (March, 2000). The Albanian Prime Minister, Ilir Meta established a dialogue with his Hungarian homologue, Viktor Orban, which was highly focused on the bilateral relations.  
2001
- The Albanian minister of Public Order, Ilir Gjoni, visited Hungary on 12-14 December 2001.
- The Visit of the Foreign Committee delegation of the Hungarian Parliament, headed by the Head of the Commission, Istvan Szent - Ivaniji. (2-3 October 2001)

- The Hungarian President, Ferenc Madl, visits Tirana (March, 2005).
 2004
-The Head of the Albanian Parliament, Servet Pellumbi, held a visit in Budapest (3-5 February, 2004).
- Albanian Deputy Foreign Minister visit, Luan Hajdaraga, Budapest (19-20 February).
 2005
- The Albanian President, Aleksander Moisiu and his Hungarian homolog Madl, held a visit in the framework of the Hungarian President visit in Albania (30-31 March, 2005).
2006
-The Albanian President, Aleksander Moisiu, was invited from his Hungarian homologue in an official visit in Budapest (14-15 June). 
-The Hungarian Prime Minister, Ferenc Gyurczany, held an official visit in Tirana on 23 November 2006.
-The Head of Hungarian Parliament, Mrs. Katalin Szili was invited officially form the Head of the Albanian Parliament, Mrs. Jozefina Topalli, to hold an official visit in Tirana on 30 November to 1 December 2006.
