The Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj promotes the Albanian capital in MuniWorld 2021, the most prestigious activity where municipalities and senior officials from the main cities of the globe gather to share best work practices and to exchange expertise!

MUNI WORLD 2021 is an opportunity to learn and be exposed to the latest information and advancements in the industry by enjoying attractive exhibitions and fascinating Startup tours in Israel. MUNI EXPO 2021 was attended by mayors from around the world, corporate executives, financial managers, information officers, urban planners, architects, security officials, education, social welfare, academic experts, etc.

During his visit, Mayor Veliaj held a special meeting with Ron Huldai, Mayor of Tel Aviv since 1998, with whom he shared work experiences in challenging areas such as the use of innovative technologies and solutions, Smart-innovative cities, environmental issues and approaches to urban planning, transport, etc.

 Mayor Veliaj, invited his homologue to visit Tirana in the framework of the activites and events to be held within festivites for Tirana -as- EuropeanYouthCapital2022, Mr. Huldai highly appreciated and considered it as an opportunity to collaborate concretely on joint projects.

 Mr. Veliaj met with the CEO of Jewish Impact, Robert Singer. They discussed future collaborations between the City of Tirana, the Center for Jewish Impact in the framwork of the fight against Anti-Semitism.  Robert Singer thanked Mr. Veliaj for his exemplary leadership, the role of Albania in interfaith dialogue and friendship with Israel and the Jewish people. He also congratulated Erion Veliaj on the recognition of Tirana as the Youth Capital of Europe 2021.

Veliaj also held meetings with the Director of AJC AvitalLeibovich. 

in order to intensify relations between our countries to promote mutual enterprises  with a focus on Smart Solution and startup accelerators, he met with the representatives of  Israel Innovation Authority-ISERD, Interloc Development, Lanez, ASTERRA, IBM, Maverick VC, Parkam, Placesense etc.

 Part of the agenda of the meetings were also two Israeli business companies, Big Mall Center and ELta Ltd.

Mayor Veliaj also addressed the conference panel - International Municipal Cooperation wins Global campaigns - emphasizing the importance of transformational reforms in the city of Tirana as well as creative solutions in the face of urban terrorism threats in Smart Cities / modern cities.

MuniEXPO 2021 was greeted by Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

MUNI EXPO, is organized every year by the Federation of Local Authorities in Israel, and is the main activity of its kind in the Middle East.

Mayor Veliaj was accompanied in this visit by the Vice President  Anuela Ristani and the General Director of Technology, ErmirPuka. Mayor of Lezha, Pjerin Ndreu, participated in Muni World as well together with a team of experts and businessmen, as well as the Mayor of Fier, Armando Subashi.
